Regent’s Academic Study Skills (ASK) programme is designed to provide students with easy access to resources that help to build their academic skills and confidence.
How we help students
We welcome students from a range of backgrounds, all with varying experiences and requirements for developing their academic and study skills. We have made ASK material available in a variety of ways, bringing support into the classroom, one-to-one sessions, webinars, and a vast library of digital resources. Students and staff can access any of these resources directly through our Regent Digital app or portal.
One-to-one and small group support sessions
To receive individualised support, all students have the option of scheduling a one-on-one appointment with our ASK team. Aside from this, there is also the option of setting up smaller group sessions for students who want to discuss related subjects.
Guidance and support materials
Improving our students’ academic and study skills is our top priority. That is why ASK continually creates support materials, from how-to guides fact sheets, and advice. All this content can be easily accessed through the Regent Digital app or portal.
E-library and academic resources
Students at Regent have access to an extensive range of e-books, journals, and academic resources to help them with their studies. We provide our students with information, advice, and training on how to access and fully utilise these resources, as well as develop their information literacy and research skills.
In-class training
ASK learning resources and material are also cleverly utilised by academics, with the content being shown to students during sessions and seminars. If students want specific help on specific academic skills like referencing or note-taking, teaching staff have the option to invite the ASK team into the session to deliver in-class training.
Academic skills webinars
Each semester, we organise a series of expert-led interactive webinars covering the key attributes and abilities required for successful higher education study. All students at Regent are welcome to attend these sessions which are hosted on Microsoft Teams and available as part of our student development programme, SCOPE.
