As Director of Student Services at RCL, Matthew Lawson enjoys working across teams to deliver a joined-up, student-centred experience, with the student voice at the heart of how services are shaped and improved.
Matthew is responsible for student voice and representation, wellbeing and disability support, and student engagement services, including the Personal Tutor Scheme, helping to ensure students are supported to succeed throughout their studies. He is also a Joint Lead for student safeguarding and Report & Support processes.
He has extensive experience in higher education leadership, having previously served as Director of Library and Student Support at Middlesex University, where he led integrated services spanning academic skills, wellbeing and student support, delivering improvements in student satisfaction and outcomes.
Matthew has contributed to institutional strategy through work on TEF, Access and Participation, and student experience initiatives. He is an active sector contributor, having chaired the M25 Consortium of Academic Libraries and undertaken consultancy work with SCONUL and the University of Oxford.
