On Thursday, 12 February 2026, the RCL community came together at Friends House, Euston, to celebrate our Winter Graduation 2026.
It was a magical day honouring our incredible graduates from the Schools of Business, Health and Sports Science, and Engineering and Computing. We welcomed over 1,000 students and 2,000 guests across four ceremonies, making it one of RCL’s largest student events ever.
Each ceremony took place in The Light, a spacious auditorium illuminated by a striking skylight that filled the room with natural light. It was heartwarming to see our graduates creating memories to treasure for a lifetime, surrounded by family, friends and fellow students.
For those unable to attend in person, the ceremonies were streamed live on YouTube, allowing loved ones near and far to share in the celebrations and send their best wishes. The livestreams are now available to watch via our dedicated graduation playlist.

Messages for the journey ahead
The event was made even more special by the presence of our distinguished Guests of Honour:
- Rebecca Yates, RCL Provost
- Steve Phillips, Regent Global Chairman
- Sir Gavin Williamson, former Secretary of State for Education
- Lord James Wharton, Baron Wharton of Yarm and Member of the House of Lords
- Tim Openshaw, Assistant Vice Chancellor at the University of Greater Manchester
- Patrick McGhee, Assistant Vice Chancellor at the University of Greater Manchester
In a powerful address, Rebecca Yates reflected on the significance of the day:
“At RCL, graduation carries an extra meaning, because each of you has taken a unique and often challenging journey to reach this point. Many of you have balanced work, family and community responsibilities. Some of you have studied in a second language. And every one of you has achieved something remarkable.”

Patrick McGhee also delivered an inspiring message, inviting graduates to declare, “I am a member of the RCL community” – first as a shout, then as a whisper. He then encouraged them to turn to the person next to them and say, “We are members of the RCL community.”
He concluded with words that resonated deeply throughout the auditorium:
“Sometimes, to make an impact, you must shout. But sometimes, you must whisper. And every time in life, when you want to make an impact, you make it with fellow travellers on your journey.”
We were also delighted to welcome a different student speaker at each ceremony – Simona Elena Ilies, Alessandro Torre, Edward Olounfemi Fewry and Garima Dulal. Their heartfelt reflections captured the higher education journey with honesty and pride, and their messages resonated powerfully with their fellow graduates.

Looking ahead with pride
Winter Graduation 2026 was a celebration of resilience, ambition and community. Our graduates leave RCL not only with qualifications but also with the confidence, skills, and determination to shape their futures and make a meaningful difference in their industries and communities.
We are immensely proud of everything they have achieved and excited to see where their journeys will take them next. Wherever life leads, they will always remain part of the RCL community – and we look forward to celebrating their continued success in the years to come. er development.
