Do you want to build transferable skills, boost your career prospects and study from anywhere in the world? RCL’s Online Master of Business Administration (MBA), delivered in partnership with the University of Greater Manchester (UoGM), offers a flexible pathway designed for ambitious learners who want to upskill without putting their lives on hold.
To understand what sets the programme apart, we spoke to Programme Leader Dr Lasta Dangol, who shared insights into the course content, teaching style and the type of learner who thrives on the MBA.
What is an Online MBA?
A Master of Business Administration is a postgraduate degree designed to develop advanced leadership, management and strategic thinking skills. An online MBA delivers the same academic depth as a traditional in-person MBA, with the added benefit of flexible, remote study.
RCL’s Online MBA helps students strengthen their critical understanding of organisations, management practices and the complex challenges facing businesses today. The programme also encourages creative, systematic approaches to problem-solving across a wide range of industries.
About the programme
Dr Dangol has led the Online MBA since December 2023 and has seen rapid growth in student interest. The programme expanded from 900 learners to around 2,000 within a year, driven by its affordability and fully remote structure.
She emphasises that the MBA is suitable for individuals from a broad range of backgrounds.
“From new moms to career changers, there’s no age limit. If you have an entrepreneurial mindset, you can succeed in this course.”
With students joining from across the UK and internationally, online delivery ensures that learners can advance in their careers while balancing life, work and study.

Skills you will develop
The Online MBA is designed to build practical, industry-relevant skills that can be applied to any organisational context. Students engage with real case studies and problem-solving tasks that promote critical thinking and discussion.
Key skills include:
- Digital communication
- Delivering effective presentations
- Teamwork and collaboration
- Financial planning and analysis
- Human resources and people management
- Conducting systematic research for business decision-making
These skills prepare graduates for leadership roles across sectors such as consultancy, real estate, technology, finance and more.
How the programme is taught
The Online MBA takes 12 months to complete. Each module runs for five weeks and is assessed through exams and assignments. Students complete a dissertation within ten weeks, choosing a research topic that aligns with their interests and accessible data.
Dr Dangol describes the teaching style as highly interactive.
“It’s two-way communication. A typical three-hour session includes a presentation, case studies and lots of discussion for an engaging learning experience.”
Additional features include:
- Guest lecturers from various industries
- Weekly drop-in sessions with academics
- A 48-hour response window for student queries
- Opportunities to attend conferences for immersive learning
Much of the curriculum takes a cross-cultural approach, exploring diversity, global expansion and the cultural considerations businesses must navigate when entering new markets. The diverse student body further enriches these discussions.
To ensure relevance, the academic team audits module content every six months.
MBA vs EMBA: What’s the difference?
If you’ve been researching postgraduate business qualifications, you may have come across the Executive MBA (EMBA). While both are respected credentials, they serve different learners.
- MBA: Typically suited to professionals with around five years of experience who want to accelerate their careers or pivot into new industries.
- EMBA: Designed for senior professionals with 10 to 15 years of experience who want advanced leadership development while continuing to work.
RCL currently offers MBA programmes only – ideal for early and mid-career professionals who want to stand out in the competitive global job market.

Career outcomes
Lasta highlights student achievements as one of the proudest aspects of her role. Many learners have gone on to:
- Present at academic and industry conferences
- Publish research papers
- Secure roles in their desired fields, including consultancy and real estate
The programme encourages entrepreneurial thinking and supports students who want to start or grow their own ventures.
Entry requirements
Applicants are typically expected to have:
- An honours degree (or equivalent)
- At least two years of relevant work experience
In some cases, applicants without formal qualifications but with substantial management experience may still be considered. These applications must include a reflective overview of managerial responsibilities and a reference letter on company letterhead.
Dr Dangol advises prospective students to review module content carefully to ensure the course aligns with their goals.
“An MBA is not for everyone. You need that entrepreneurial mindset and the desire to build something for yourself. If you have that fire, this programme will help you burn brighter.”
