Effective today, Regent College London has implemented sweeping changes to its harassment and sexual misconduct policies, reinforcing its commitment to student safety and wellbeing.
In response to the Office for Students’ (OfS) newly introduced Condition E6, Regent College London has taken decisive action to strengthen its protections against harassment and sexual misconduct. These enhancements are designed to foster a safer, more respectful academic environment for all students, staff and visitors.
Mandatory compliance and student protection
As of August 1 2025, RCL’s updated policies align fully with OfS Condition E6, a regulatory requirement aimed at ensuring universities and colleges take active measures to prevent and address sexual misconduct. These changes mark a critical step in safeguarding our academic community and upholding our responsibility to every student’s welfare.
Clearer boundaries and stronger protections
Among the most significant updates is a new rule prohibiting romantic or sexual relationships between staff and students. This policy eliminates the risk of power imbalances and reinforces the professional standards expected across the College.
“By clearly defining boundaries, we’re fostering an environment where mutual respect and student trust are prioritised,” an RCL spokesperson explained.
Introducing Report + Support: A new digital platform
To provide a safe, accessible space for disclosures, RCL has launched Report + Support – a new online platform available as of today. Through Report + Support, students, staff and visitors can:
- Report incidents confidentially or anonymously
- Access wellbeing and safeguarding services
- Find guidance on institutional policies and their rights
This digital tool empowers individuals to speak up, seek help and engage with resources without barriers.
Compulsory training for all students
Beginning in September 2025, all new and returning students will be required to complete mandatory training on harassment and sexual misconduct. This educational initiative will help students:
- Understand what constitutes inappropriate or harmful behaviour
- Learn how to report concerns through official channels
- Recognise their role in building a culture of respect and accountability
This training will be an integral part of student onboarding and ongoing learning at RCL.
An ongoing commitment to safety and respect
“These policy updates are not a one-off response – they represent our enduring pledge to student safety and dignity,” the College stated. “We will continue to refine our approach, engage the community and ensure all students are informed, supported, and protected.”
