Course Overview

Our one-year BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Top-up) programme is an ideal next step from a foundation degree, Higher National Diploma or equivalent diploma. Build on your previous studies and enhance your knowledge and understanding of computing and IT principles and practices.

This course is designed to develop your understanding of the theory, design and implementation of algorithms used to manipulate data and information. You will gain a broad education in computer science, with a focus on problem-solving, developing software-based solutions and managing the process of innovation.

Throughout the course, you will apply appropriate theories, tools and methodologies to develop effective solutions, while gaining exposure to the latest development techniques used in the industry. You will also be supported in building the adaptability needed to learn new skills as the computer industry continues to evolve.

Alongside technical knowledge, the course will help you develop essential workplace skills such as report writing, presentations and interpersonal communication. Entry Requirements

  • You are normally expected to have completed a relevant qualification at Level HE5, such as a Foundation Degree or HND, or a professional qualification at an equivalent level.
  • You may be required to attend an interview and/or provide a portfolio of work.
  • If English is not your first language, you will need to complete a Secure English Language Test at IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.
