What our students say

When returning to higher education, I was very anxious about how I would be able to make it through the course when reviewing the assignments to be completed. Fortunately, I discovered the Academic Skills Webinars. Since then, it has been a wonderful journey filled with positive experiences. These sessions have taught me basic skills in how to study, progressing onto how to write academically, referencing, paraphrasing, and presentation skills. The Webinars have been engaging, interactive, and have contributed immensely to my personal growth and development. I recommend that students join these weekly sessions to become equipped with the prerequisite skills for academic excellence.

Regent College’s support with academic skills encourages me to become a more efficient learner and student. It has boosted my confidence, self-esteem, competence, and strength in my assignments. The 1-2-1 sessions have helped my academic performance by actively developing good study skills and learning strategies, helping to motivate me to continue to achieve my goals and to work more efficiently. I encourage every student to utilise the Academic Skills support.

When I first started my undergraduate course, I was very nervous about how to structure my assignments and worried that I had very little knowledge of referencing, academic writing, and digital skills. Since learning of, and attending, the Academic Skills Webinars and the 1-2-1 sessions, I have become much more confident in how I write and structure my assignments. I have learnt about phrasing, how to properly reference my work, and I am even taking the time to do more research and reading, which has shown in my work. All I have to say is thank you for giving me the hope and courage to keep going, and for bringing back my confidence.

I am glad that Regent College offers us the Academic Skills Webinars. They are both informative and interesting, and across these sessions I have learnt a lot of things that have helped me to successfully progress with my course. They cover referencing, paraphrasing, writing in an academic style, and much more. I will certainly continue to attend these webinars in the future.
