Dr. Svitlana Shevelova’s academic career is non-typical. She obtained her education in two different countries (Ukraine and Poland) and taught in three countries, Ukraine, Poland and England. She earned her PhD in Economics and Regional Studies. She obtained her Habilitation (post-doctoral top academic degree) in Business Economics and Enterprise Management as a recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship (Kirkland programme). She is an academic with extensive international teaching experience.
Since 1993, she has been teaching students from different cultures and backgrounds. She has been working for the UK Higher Education Institutions since 2009. She has achieved the status of the Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her teaching experience includes designing new courses from the scratch and redesigning of existing curriculum, and developing new bespoke courses.
She has been a Module Leader for variety of business courses. Her main research interest is Strategic and Operations Management, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Project Management, Human Resource Management, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, International Business & Management and Emerging Market. She has been actively involved in the pastoral care of students and believes that giving appropriate support to enable students to achieve their learning outcomes is an evitable part of the teaching process. She participated in students’ supervision at different levels. In 2009, her doctoral student successfully defended her PhD thesis at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, Poland.
She has relevant industry experience, which enhances her teaching of business-oriented courses with real-life practical examples for students. She is a business coach at Polish University Abroad in London and Collegium Da Vinci, University in Poznan, Poland. She organises business training sessions focus on collaboration between Poland and the UK that concern entrepreneurship, innovation, finding market niches, new venture creation and strategy of growth for SMEs.
Since 1996 she has been working as a Member of a Team and Team Leader in a number of international projects funded by TACIS, PHARE and Confucius (with the partner Beijing Foreign Studies University (China) with the total amount of funds secured for her team being equal approximately to 500,000Euros. She is a scholar with substantial publication output in Poland and Ukraine. She has published 97 papers, books and book chapters, including in top-grade international journals (please see my CV details).
