Professor Jill Hanson, MA PGCert PhD

As Associate Dean (Quality Enhancement) at RCL, Professor Jill Hanson supports our academics to deliver high-quality learning and teaching. She holds a PhD from the University of Hertfordshire, a Postgraduate Certificate in Business Coaching from the University of Derby and an MA Hons Psychology from the University of Aberdeen.  

Professor Hanson has worked in higher education for over 20 years – teaching, researching and leading. She started out teaching in a business school, eventually leading modules and programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level for 10 years.  

Professor Hanson then moved into a senior research role, winning tenders, evaluating careers and education programmes, and contributing to the university’s Research Excellence Framework (REF) submission.  

Subsequently, Dr Hanson moved into a central team to lead the academic development function as well as cross-university projects including implementation of an inclusion framework and the development of a student enrichment programme.
