Carmai Pestell is a senior higher education professional with extensive expertise in governance, quality assurance, risk management and regulatory compliance. She has successfully established and led governance and registry teams, supported boards and other senior committees, and provided strategic guidance on legal and regulatory matters.  

Carmai’s experience spans institutions including City, University of London, UCL and SOAS University of London. She was most recently the Registrar & Secretary of TEDI-London, a new higher education provider which she helped to launch. Whilst at TEDI-London, Carmai led on the successful Office for Students Registration and New Degree Awarding Powers processes.  

Beyond her professional role, Carmai is deeply committed to advancing higher education regulation and governance. As a Trustee and Chair of the Education Committee at the Institute of Optimum Nutrition, she contributes to strategic oversight and best practices.  

Carmai holds an MBA in Education from Keele University and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration in Higher Education Management at the University of Bath, focusing on regulatory frameworks for new and specialist education providers.
