Maddy has completed LPC at College of Law in York in 2005. She is qualified as a solicitor and worked in house for a number of years as a litigator and prosecutor.

During her time in legal practice, she worked as an Associate Lecturer with the Open University.

She has 15 years’ experience as an academic in HE. In that time, she has held various positions such as head of Curriculum at Coventry University (Scarborough), Student Experience Manager and Associate Lecturer at the Open University.

She has also held positions such as Chief Examiner with CILEx and Chief Assessor of Higher Apprenticeships in law. She is passionate about higher and degree apprenticeships as a means of opening up qualification routes to a wider audience.

She has worked as a content developer and law tutor with Kaplan Open Learning, developing and delivering undergraduate law modules with a public and criminal focus.

Her strengths are in curriculum design and development, online material production and student engagement and experience. She is passionate about ensuring learning and content is engaging for students and accessible.
