Director of Studies – Thinking into Character
Akosua has 10+ years experience working in FE/HE education. She has a BA, MPhil & PhD in Philosophy (viva pending) from University College London. Within education, her roles have included lecturer, project manager and head of department, with responsibilities including teaching, curriculum development and delivering quantifiable increases in academic attainment and student engagement.
Akosua joined Regent in May 2019, to work on the project Thinking into Character (TiC). Under her guardianship, in November 2019 the project won an IHE award for Excellence in Student Collaboration and was shortlisted for the IHE award for Excellence in course design and delivery. Akosua is passionate about widening participation, and is interested in the intersection between education, policy and the third sector.
Thinking into Character (TiC) is an award winning personal and professional development programme, designed and delivered by Dr. Selva Pankaj. The programme covers a range of topics, from goal setting to the principles of personal leadership. Akosua works to embed Thinking into Character within the curriculum, across campuses, as well as working to develop the philosophy and mind-set of Thinking into Character across wider structures within the organisation and externally.
