External Validation

At Regent College London, we are proud to have our courses and teaching validating by highly regarded organisations such as QAA, Pearson and NSS. We work to our upmost best to provide students with high quality teaching and to be recognised for our efforts is a great honour.

Quality Assurance Agency (QAA)

The Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) works to safeguard quality and standards in UK universities and colleges, so that students have the best possible learning experience.  QAA conducts reviews of institutions and publishes reports detailing the findings. These reports highlight good practice and contain recommendations to help improve quality. As an ‘alternative provider’ within the higher education sector, the College is subject to QAA’s Higher Education Review (Alternative Providers) (HER (AP)) process which is designed for institutions which provide higher education in collaboration with an awarding body.

HER (AP) evaluates:
  • threshold academic standards
  • the quality of learning opportunities
  • information about higher education
  • the enhancement of students’ learning opportunities

Regent College London has undergone a review by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) in September 2016 and has received its final report.

Regent College London received a commendable outcome from the monitoring visit in 2017. The report is available here. It submitted an annual return in September 2018 that demonstrates that it is continuing to maintain academic standards and enhance the quality of student learning opportunities and information about learning opportunities.

The action plan resulting from the 2016 and 2017 visits are here

Pearson, is a well-known and well respected operator in the education sector. Its BTEC qualifications provide a more practical, real-world approach to learning and skills development alongside a key theoretical background in comparison with traditional academic qualifications. Regent College London is currently operating the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business with a number of specialised pathways.

The College is currently inspected by Pearson twice per year, once via Academic Management Review (AMR), and once via the Standards Verification (SV) process.

NSS (The National Student Survey 2020)

The 2020 National Student Survey (NSS), published by Texunatech on behalf of the Office for Students, surveyed over 310,000 students in the UK about their university experience. Students were asked about a variety of factors, including the teaching on their courses, learning opportunities and resources, academic support and feedback, the university community, their students’ union and student representation, along with their overall satisfaction with the quality of their course.

7% more Regent College London students agreed that ‘The timetable works efficiently for me’ than the sector average.

7% more Regent College London students agreed that ‘I feel part of a community of staff and students’ than the sector average.

11% more Regent College London students agreed that ‘It is clear how students’ feedback on the course has been acted on’ than the sector average.

10% more Regent College London students agreed that ‘The students’ union (association or guild) effectively represents students’ academic interests,’ than the sector average.

Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF)

Regent College London delivers teaching, learning and outcomes for its students that meet rigorous national quality requirements for UK higher education.

The Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework, or TEF, awards, which are now in their fourth year, are decided by an independent panel of experts comprising students and academics. Drawing on national data, combined with evidence submitted by each university or college, the TEF measures excellence in three areas: teaching quality, the learning environment, and the educational and professional outcomes achieved by students.

In June 2019, Regent College London was awarded TEF Bronze status.

The Panel assessing the submission made by the College noted that, “Teaching on my course and academic support are exceptionally high and above the provider’s benchmark. Student satisfaction with assessment and feedback is high while continuation rates are above the provider’s benchmark.”

UK Visas

Regent College London is a UKVI Tier 4 Sponsor which means it can sponsor international students who wish to enter the UK for educational reasons. Our Sponsor License Number is GXN1JH48X.

We have held the Tier 4 sponsorship for a number of years. This status recognises sponsors who show a good history of compliance with their sponsor duties and whose students meet the standards of compliance with the terms of their visa or permission to stay in the UK (known as ‘leave to remain’).

This means that we are approved by the UK government to accept international students (non UK and non-EU) onto our programmes of study and grant them a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies to facilitate the student’s visa application.
