On 11th February, students at our Kingsbury campus had the opportunity to learn about Mindfulness and even tried some of the techniques under the guidance of Psychological and Wellbeing Practitioners Ms Aysha Sajid and Ms Nefaret Bilikmpasi. Students learned that mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Students were explained that whenever they bring awareness to what they are directly experiencing via their senses, or to their state of mind via their thoughts and emotions- they are being mindful. Ms Aysha and Ms Nefaret encouraged students to practice mindfulness every day to be able to feel more calm and centered. At the end of the workshop students were given information on how to find more online resources about Mindfulness and how to get further help when they need it.
